My Erica Maree line are a collection of casual boho chic handbags and accessories with a vision for vibrant and playful designs. My dream is to have them available in chic boutiques around the world. The core materials used for my handbags are genuine Mexican hand embroidered items. These embroidery techniques have been around for centuries and handed down through the generations. I up-cycle these items into unique fashion forward handbags and accessories for women appealing to that girl that has a modern bohemian flair.

My Erica Maree handbags really came to life while living in Merida Mexico. I was drawn to the vibrant colors and textures of our new surroundings. My first design originated when my daughter grew out of a traditional hand embroidered Mexican dress and it became my first handbag...the Merida Hobo Handbag.

Originality means to be different, and that’s what we offer women around the globe. A truly original and different embroidered handbag made using traditional woven techniques true to Mexico. By using these hand woven pieces, Erica Maree designs is able to share the work of these artisans. A great collaboration!

There are many design challenges I face as a designer, but the most substantial was finding the source of my core materials. It has been the biggest mountain I have had to climb. Simply because it’s not as if there is a warehouse or an outlet where the embroidered pieces are being mass produced. There is no factory involved. The embroidered pieces come from remote parts of Mexico. I haven't experienced a design nightmare that didn't bring me closer to where I want to go with my Erica Maree line.

I think that finally being able to bring my designs to life and to be able to offer them on a global scale makes it pretty worth it. Each final piece is another great achievement and another step toward my ladder of success. The best is still yet to come.
