CC SKYE started as a fashion forward jewelry line in 2004 and our handbags evolved just 2 years later out of the success of our leather woven chain bracelets, with the birth of the “Skye” bag, a cult status bag featuring 2 of our iconic bracelets as straps. Now 6 seasons later, we have over 18 different styles that merchandise well with the jewelry line in that everything in the line is delicate balance of uptown elegance and a downtown edge. Most stores around the world were sold out on our bracelets and at the time, we made a bag with the added bracelets as straps, girls went crazy for them as it gave you a handbag and a bonus of 2 bracelets you couldn’t buy anywhere for the same price..

From working with jewelry and gold metal, grew a desire to cast hardware in our jewelry factory.. We were also working with leather a lot in our jewelry at the time which was a signature look we became known for. I started creating gold hardware in our jewelry factory and many styles evolved from the hardware itself. Most designers make a bag and then create the hardware, where as we do the exact opposite, we create jaw dropping, gleaming gold hardware and then create a bag around it!

Regarding a "nightmare" story, my 1st handbag looked like a box. I learned quickly that there were so many nuances to creating a good shape to a handbag and it isn’t easy as it looks. The manufacture took all drawings so literally that I came to learn very quickly that angles are so important and the subtly in making a bag slouchy versus structured! It looked almost like a brief case.. Our manufacturer had a very masculine interpretation of design so I learned a lot by having to teach him to channel an inner feminine touch. Needless to say, I don’t also work with this manufacturer still but it taught me a lot by seeing such tangible mistakes!  Indeed it may sound cliché but it is such a great feeling when you hear someone love your stuff.. I worked so hard in the beginning, 18 hour days, 7 days a week, sacrificing vacations, parties, evenings out, to build a business, and eventually it all pays off.. It was so worth it to sacrifice my social life in my twenties to have a booming brand by 30!
